Alisha Curry Walker

Keynote Speaker, Breakout Speaker, Workshop Presenter, Virtual Speaker and Trainer

Alisha is a dynamic speaker who fuses her background in therapy and coaching to help forge a path when she speaks that allows her participants to gain knowledge along with practical application that can be applied at the end of each speaking engagement. Alisha is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been in the mental health field for over 25 years. She has a passion in particular for teachers and school systems because she comes from a long line of educators. Her grandfather was a principal and her grandmother was a teacher in the time of segregation. The desire to help others through education was then passed down from her mother who was an educator and then an administrator for over 30 years.

In her career, Alisha has worked with schools at varying capacities from an on-site therapist for elementary and high school students to working with students as a part of a team providing support. In these roles, she saw how all parties involved in the school culture are impacted by the mental health of all people involved. After working in direct services, Alisha used her knowledge to develop trainings that address mental health, social emotional learning, trauma, and racial trauma impact the day to day operations of a school.

Alisha is passionate about helping schools develop an overall vision and system of operations around creating a school culture and environment that supports mental health, resilience, cultural responsiveness, and being trauma informed. Beyond the overall vision, she works with schools to help them develop a  practical plan that supports the mental health and wellbeing of the teachers and staff so that they can then can be emotionally well for the students in their classrooms.

Mental health and wellness for teachers and staff is vitally important at this time especially because of the burnout teachers have faced over the last two years and now the mass exodus of teachers due to this burnout.
